The Thomas Ranch, home to Thomas Charolais, Inc., was established in 1861 as the Tres Mesquites division of Francisco Yturria's land holdings in Kenedy and Willacy Counties. The ranch was nurtured and passed through the loving hands of Don Francisco's daughter Isabel Yturria Garcia, to her daughter Maria Garcia Thomas. Harl and Maria Thomas began Thomas Charolais in 1936 with the importation of the great white breed to South Texas.
Today, Thomas Ranch and Thomas Charolais, Inc. lay in the hands of the fourth, fifth, and sixth generation ranchers. Billy and Claudette Thomas, along with Mitch and Linda Thomas, and David and Tonnyre Thomas Joe manage the day to day ranching activities with the assistance of Morgan, Logan and Lauren Thomas, and Royse and Claudette Joe - Generation 6. The three generations together continue to keep many of the old traditions while embracing new technologies and advancements in the cattle industry.
At Thomas Charolais, we believe in producing purebred cattle with the commercial cattleman in mind - purebred genetics that make commercial sense. For over 70 years, the Thomas Family has selected cattle that meet high standards for Adaptability, Fertility, Milking Ability, and Beef Production. The focus has been on quality and functionality without losing sight of marketing, customer service, and an overall commitment to the cattle industry.
With over 1,200 registered Charolias cows, we believe in producing Quality in Quantity. Our bulls are marketed through our bi-annual bull sales, one in October, and the other in February. In April, we have a Club Calf Sale with offspring out of Thomas Charolais cows, and some of the most popular club calf sires. We have open show heifer prospects, bred heifers, cows, and pairs available at the ranch by private treaty.
We welcome you to visit the Thomas Ranch year around. The entire Thomas family is here to serve your needs, and if there is any way we can be of assistance, please contact one of us.
